Viewer camera

Your viewers can move the camera too. In a share link or an embed, they can drag to orbit round the scene, look around it from where the camera stands, or walk through it like a game. Or you can keep the camera yours, so only behaviors answer them.

Dragging in Preview with Orbit: the view turns round the three cards, then back

Where to find it: the Camera list in the Preview bar. Click Preview in the top bar to open it.

Choose how the viewer moves

  1. Click Preview in the top bar.
  2. Pick a mode in the Camera list.
  3. Try it on the frame, then press Esc.

The mode is saved with the piece, and ⌘ Z undoes a change to it.

CameraWhat the viewer does
OrbitDrags to orbit round the view, and uses the wheel to move in and out. The default.
Look aroundThe camera stays where it is; dragging turns it, like a panorama
WalkDrags to look, walks with W A S D or the arrow keys, and runs with Shift. On a phone, one finger looks and two fingers walk.
FixedThe camera is the scene's. Only behaviors answer the viewer.

Walking through a room

Walk makes the viewer a person in the scene. They stand on whatever is solid below the camera when they start (a generated room's floor, a static body, or the invisible ground), climb steps, stop at walls and fall off edges. A generated room starts in Walk.

Their eye height comes from the ground below the camera. With nothing below, they keep the camera's height and still stop at walls.

To glide a walking viewer to a spot when they click something, give that layer a click with Take the viewer there. See Behaviors.

Things to know

  • Where the viewer moves the camera is never saved. Leaving Preview puts it back, and the next viewer starts where you left it.
  • Use Fixed for a piece with a designed camera move, so a stray drag doesn't spoil it.
